On the invitation for your show you didn't show a product but a photograph, what does it stand for?
Chris Kabel: Rather than putting a product on the invitation I wanted to show my design approach or mentality. It expresses my particular view on reality or daily life. Pragmatic beauty you might call it.

Are the display boxes made especially for this exhibition? How do they work?
CK: The display boxes are made as display boxes, not only for my objects but for objects in general. Especially in a gallery/design/fashion kind of context. The come flatpack and are (after a bit of practice) easily folded and combined into various constellations. Im thinking of putting some pattern on them.

Seeing all your work together in one exhibition, where do you think your oeuvre is developing to?
CK: I have no idea. At the moment im really contemplating on my future, I guess this is caused by seeing all my work together in a gallery space (the most abstract and unnatural space imaginable). I think I need to sit on a chair in the gallery for some time to let things sink in...
